The Old Man and The Sea

This story is about a man that went on shore trying to catch a fish. The Motif is strength, and courage. On pg 50 it says ".....settled himself against the rounded planks of the bow and felt the strength of the great fish through the line he held across his shoulders moving steadily toward whatever had chosen." He is feeling the power to do certain things. Everyday he is getting stronger and stronger because on pg 48 "...... rounded the planks of the bow and felt the strength of the great fish.... the line he had.... moving steadily toward whatever he had chosen." He keeps on feeling strength. He has courage because he knows that he can do it. On pg 50 it says "His choice had been to stay in the deep dark water far out beyond all snares and trap..."  also on page 54 it says ...But I will kill you dead before this day ends. These quotes are saying that his desire is to kill the fish and he will kill it no matter what he does.

  1. I have a question: What really is the moral of this story? Not giving up or be prepared?
