The Chosen(chapter five)

In this chapter, Reuven has just returned from the hospital. On his way home he literally sees things differently. He describes the scenery as bright, clean, and fresh. Figuratively speaking, I think Reuven also saw things differently such things as the relationship he had with Danny Saunders. When Danny first came to visit Reuven in the hospital, Reuven really did not want to hear from Danny because he was the one who put him in the hospital. He was the reason why Reuven could potentially become blind in one of his eyes. By the time Reuven was home Danny and Reuven had had other visits and were practically friends. I think the reason the two disliked each other before was because they did not know each other and also because they let their religion in a way come between them and interfere with their personalities. Reuven thought Danny would be some type of way because he was a Hasidim-Jew, but once he got to know him he was in no way (except the way he dressed) what Reuven thought he would be like.
