The Chosen Chapter twelve

Mr.Malter and Reb Saunders have different opinions on Palestine (what is now Israel) becoming the homeland for the non-gentiles. Mr.Malter believes that the Jews should take action because it is a waste of time to wait for god to save the them. Reb believes that letting gentiles build a homeland for the Jews that are left is committing apikorism. Reuven brought up the topic of the "new land" at dinner and Reb Saunders exploded like a volcano. Reuven felt the "heat" at the table between the family after the "new land incident." Now Reuven is careful about what he says in the Saunders' household.
