How to Read Literature Like a Professor-Chapter 22: He's Blind for a Reason You Know
What does it mean when an author writes "Can't see a thing in the world. As it turns out , though, he is able to see things in the spirit and divine world?" Perhaps this means that the man is physically oblivious, but yet he can still see. What the man sees only his eyes can witness. Oedipus murdered his father and married his mother. Oedipus blinded himself because he cannot see the truth, which is why he is somatically blind. Tiresias is blind but he can see the truth. People are blind for a reason, those who can see physically may be blinded by something not viewable to the naked eye.
