The Chosen Chapter 5

In the fifth chapter of the book The Chosen I see one of the motifs are stated once again. It was kind of weird when I was reading it because it was as if Reuven had loss of memory of something. Everything that he was describing was as if he was seeing it for the first time. For me, I felt that it was foreshadowing that a change in the story line or the plot was coming. I say this because in the text it was showing how Reuven was looking at everything from a different perspective and then at the end of the chapter it also said that he laid on the porch and began to think about Danny. Truly I think it was fate that Reuven ended up in the hospital because Danny said himself that if Reuven wasn't in the hospital Danny would have had no one to tell his secret to. His secret how he reads tons of books in secrecy because his father is very strict with what he reads. The part of the secret that really intrigued me was the fact that Reuven's father said that not only does Danny read the books fast but he also memorizes the books too. I find the conflict with himself maddening and so confusing, but I also feel that Reuven will take a huge part in whatever Danny chooses to do because they will be the best of friends, I think....
