My Opinion of "Two Kinds"( revised)
The story of "Two Kinds" had some disrespectful characters who talked back to their parents. Everyone is their own person and should express themselves but at the same time, should respect their parents. The daughter felt she was not appreciated for who she really was,(which was not a piano player) by her mother. She was disrespectful and rude when she said"I wish I were dead! Like them."as she referred to her siblings who had died during birth. In the end of the story, she talked about the piano she had played as a child and how she felt proud to have it offered to her by her mother. " It made me feel proud as if it were a shiny trophy I had won back." she said. Her mother had died a few months earlier, and I would have expected her to feel guilty for never saying sorry to her mother for what had occurred. The incident that had taken place with her mother was not spoken of in years so she probably felt bringing it up would not benefit her or her mother in any way.
