The Stolen Party

In the short story "The Stolen Party," some people may think that Luciana, the birthday girl, had her party taken away from her or "stolen" by Rosaura. Some may assume this because Rosaura has fun and helps out alot at the party, but Rosaura is really the one who gets the party taken away from her. Rosaura is so happy of how the party turns out because she got to hold the magician's assistant, the monkey, and she gets to help serve cake. Rosaura does not feel the same way when she is with her mother at Senora Ines's door, and expects to get a bracelet out of the pink bag, even though she wants a yo-yo out the blue bag, but Senora Ines hands her two bills. Senora Ines pays Rosaura for helping out at the party. Rosaura was considered the help just like her mother. Rosaura has had the party "stolen" from her because Senora Ines's actions to give her those bills, makes Rosaura feel that all the fun she had just experienced, was all for nothing if she was going to be treated unlike all the other kids and taken as the help.
