Charlie wanted his daughter back. He lost his daughter because his wife died and he became a drunk. Charlie took his daughter out to dinner so he could bound with her. She told him that she wanted to live with him. Also, he started to argue with Marion over how he should get his daughter and how he improved over the years. He only has one drink a day and he tried to stay on top of it.
